Los Gatos, September 12, 2025: The Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District, in partnership with the Los Gatos HS Home & School Club and the Saratoga HS Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) invite students, families, staff, and community members to attend an upcoming virtual workshop, Finding Balance in the Age of Addiction, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 6:00 pm.
This timely event comes as the district has implemented its first-ever cell phone policy this school year, designed to support student well-being, focus, and balance. The workshop will provide tools and insights for navigating technology use in an age of constant digital stimulation.
The webinar will feature Dr. Anna Lembke, Professor and Medical Director of Addiction Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. A nationally recognized expert in the field of addiction, Dr. Lembke is the author of Drug Dealer, MD and the bestselling Dopamine Nation: Finding Balance in the Age of Indulgence. She also appeared in the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma.
In Dopamine Nation, Dr. Lembke writes, “The smartphone is the modern-day hypodermic needle, delivering digital dopamine 24/7 for a wired generation.” Her talk will explore the science behind compulsive overconsumption, the benefits of taking a digital hiatus, and practical strategies for finding balance in a dopamine-overloaded world.
As a special offering, the first 50 registrants will receive a free copy of Dr. Lembke’s book, Dopamine Nation.
